From Recycled to Radiant - How I Turn Old Metals into Something New

There’s a quiet kind of magic in taking something old and giving it new life. That’s exactly what I do when I make jewellery from recycled silver and gold. It’s a part of my process that matters deeply to me, both as a maker and as someone who cares about the impact of what I create.

Why recycled metals?

Mining for precious metals can be incredibly damaging to the environment, from the land that's disturbed to the resources used along the way. By choosing recycled silver and gold, I’m able to reduce the footprint of each piece and create jewellery that’s thoughtful in more ways than one.

The recycled metals I use come from trusted UK suppliers who melt down and refine scrap silver and gold to a high standard. Once refined, the metal is just as pure and workable as newly mined material, so nothing is lost, and everything is gained.

A different kind of beauty

Working with recycled materials doesn’t limit the design process, in fact, it makes each piece feel even more meaningful. Whether I’m forming a hammered silver bangle or shaping a gold ring with a soft, brushed finish, I know the metal I’m using already has a story. And now, it’s ready to become part of yours.

From time to time, I also reuse offcuts and melt down scraps in my own studio to create small details or one of a kind pieces. It’s a slower, more hands on way of working, but I love that. It gives me a stronger connection to every part of the process.

Jewellery with a gentler impact

Choosing handmade jewellery made from recycled metals means choosing something beautiful that’s also a little kinder to the planet. It’s a quiet, conscious decision that doesn’t compromise on quality or character, and one that I’m proud to offer through every piece I make.
