Jewellery by Jo behind the scenes 'Life Lately' - July 2026

July has been a really lovely mix of slowing down, getting creative and making the most of summer.

Earlier in the month I finally gave myself permission to stop overthinking and just make jewellery for the fun of it again. I'd realised I'd drifted away from the thing that made me fall in love with silversmithing in the first place, creating pieces that bring me joy. So I spent a whole day making whatever I felt like, with no pressure and no plan, and it was exactly what I needed. It reminded me why I started this little business all those years ago.

Away from the workshop, there have been lots of simple moments that have made me smile. We met up with one of my oldest friends and her family for a day at the beach in Devon, which was so lovely. My daughter also baked a gluten free carrot cake completely on her own, and I was more than happy to help eat it over the following week! We were also looking after my parents' dog, who gave the best cuddles and joined me for some beautiful early morning walks through the fields.

Towards the end of the month we headed off to Cornwall for a much needed family holiday. We were so lucky with the weather, it honestly felt more like the Mediterranean than Cornwall. We spent our days swimming in the sea, paddleboarding, reading in the sunshine and simply enjoying some proper family time together. Before we headed away, I also had a brilliant Saturday evening listening to a live DJ on Bristol Harbourside, followed by a 12 km walk around the Pensford Viaduct on the Sunday. It was a busy weekend, but one of those that fills your cup.

Back in the studio, I've been adding lots of new pieces to the website, from colourful gemstone rings to new bangles, bracelets and earrings. It always makes me happy seeing ideas come to life, especially after giving myself a little creative reset.

Sometimes it's the biggest adventures that stand out, and sometimes it's the quiet everyday moments. Looking back, July has been full of both, and I'm feeling really grateful for it.

Jo xx
