Life Lately, August ☀️

Life Lately, August ☀️

August has been a really lovely, busy month, with lots of family time, days out, sunshine and a few moments to slow down in between it all.

At the beginning of the month I enjoyed an evening out with a friend involving some very strong margaritas! We sat out in the sunshine, had a good catch up and probably underestimated just how strong the drinks were 😂

I’ve also been enjoying spending time at home in the garden, potting up herbs and a few other plants, as well as getting out for some lovely early evening walks with B. We’ve caught some gorgeous sunsets along the way, which is always one of my favourite things.

August also meant the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, which I’m very lucky to have just a short walk from home. It’s always such a lovely event to have practically on our doorstep and we headed over to enjoy it again this year.

It was also my son’s 15th birthday this month, which I’m still struggling to get my head around because I definitely don’t feel old enough to have a 15 year old! 😂 We celebrated with bowling and darts, followed by a BBQ back at home with family and friends.

We also headed out for an evening walk up one of our local hills to watch the eclipse, which was a really lovely way to spend a summer evening.

With the kids home for the school holidays, there’s been plenty of juggling work and family life too. One afternoon I took my eldest and some of his friends to the local Marine Lake for a swim and paddle. While they were busy, I managed to sneak in an hour sitting on the beach, which felt like a little win!

My daughter and I also spent some time making flowers out of pipe cleaners for one of her friends. They turned out surprisingly lovely and it was nice to sit and make something together that had absolutely nothing to do with silver for a change.

There was some market time too, with a day at the Tobacco Factory Market. We had brilliant weather for it and the sunshine made such a difference. There’s something so nice about a busy market day when the sun is shining.

Towards the end of the month, I packed up the kids, a couple of their friends and, of course, the dog, and headed to Cornwall for a little mini break. It was so nice to get away for a few days, spend some time together and have a change of scenery before the summer holidays started drawing to a close.

And finally, August ended with my birthday. Another year older! I started my birthday with a walk, just me and the dogs, before heading home to open some lovely cards and presents from family and friends. A pretty perfect way to start the day.

It’s been a full month, but a really lovely one. Lots of time with the kids, friends and family, plenty of time outdoors, a little bit of making just for fun, and some really nice summer memories along the way.

Now onto September... 🍂
