One of a Kind Jewellery: What Makes a Piece Truly Unique?

There’s a real kind of satisfaction in making something that no one else will ever own.

In between made to order pieces and small collections, I often make one of a kind jewellery. These might be sample pieces, one offs, or designs that don’t follow a set plan. Sometimes I’m testing out an idea I’ve had in my head for a while. Other times, I’m using a leftover offcut of silver or a stone that I only have one of. It’s a slower, more instinctive way of working, and I really enjoy it.

These pieces aren’t part of a repeatable range. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. That’s part of what makes them so special. They’re handmade from recycled silver or gold, sometimes with Surfite or other stones I only have a limited supply of. Every one of them is made to be completely individual, and worn by just one person.

You’ll usually find them marked as samples or listed in the SALE section of my shop. I never rush them. I let the idea develop naturally, and often that’s when I end up with something I love. A particular shape, a certain hammered pattern, or the way the metal catches the light, all these little things add up to something that can’t quite be repeated.

And that’s what makes it truly one of a kind.
